One night, the girls and I were reading Itsy Bitsy Christmas by Max Lucado. It is such a cute book about the birth of Jesus through the eyes of 2 mice from the stable. Throughout the book the two mice are so excited because the donkey told them that a king was coming to Bethlehem. They started to get discouraged though because everyone kept laughing when they said that they were looking for the king because a king would never come to little old Bethlehem. It ends as the mice come back to the stable to discover the king is there. When we got to this point of the book, Braelyn pointed to Joseph and said: "Is that the king?"
Emerson: "No, Braelyn. The king is the baby Jesus. That is just his fake father. Mary married him just to get the baby. His real father is God."
I about fell over. Where in the world does she get this stuff??? I have never heard Joseph referred to as a fake father but I would say she has a pretty good grasp on the story!
