R&R After the ER

Well, this week was pretty relaxing other than a trip to the ER with Em on Wednesday.  Shawn called me just as I was getting ready to stop for lunch on Wednesday and asked me if Emerson was allergic to peanut butter.  We have had a couple of episodes in the past where we thought that she was but since then she has had a Reeses cup without any trouble and eats Chick-fil-a pretty often and they cook in peanut oil.  All of this led us to think that it was just a coincidence the first couple of times and that she probably wasn't allergic to peanut butter.  That was apparently proved wrong with breakfast on Wednesday.  Shawn made her a waffle with peanut butter on it.  She barely even tasted any of it and then he noticed her rubbing her eyes.  Before he knew it her eyes were swelling shut.  I called the pediatrician's office and given their crazy schedule that day I was told that we should get her to the ER.  By the time I got there Shawn said that she looked so much better.  If that is the case I am glad I didn't see her at her worst!  She looked so pitiful-her right eye was so swollen and she still had a few red places on her chin and under her eye.  Luckily it never affected her breathing so they gave her an oral dose of steroid and sent us on our way(after almost 3 hours!).  Since then Em and Daddy have been able to relax a little bit and have had a good end to Daddy's last week at home.

She has loved every minute of getting to be at home with Daddy this summer!

One of these days she is going to be showing us how to work the iPod!

She has been obsessed with our iTouch ever since Shawn's cousin David let her play with one of the apps on his new iPhone!

Misson: Accomplished!

Well, the big girl room is officially complete with the exception of a few things on the wall and the closet!  Shawn had his annual coaching retreat starting on Thursday so GranSan came in to keep me and Em company.  If she hadn't, there is no way the room would be finished-she kept Em occupied so Mommy could work and then helped me with the room after she went to sleep.  She had to go home to get some rest!!

Such a good helper!

Will my big girl room ever be done?!

All ready for a day of shopping with GranSan and Mommy!

A Hobby Lobby run for a few more decorations

Wouldn't you know the matching curtains didn't come long enough for her window?  I had to sew an addition on to the bottom.

The curtains turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself...major feeling of accomplishment!

Definitely a girly room!

Check out Daddy's chair rail...is he good or what?!

Getting Closer!!!

Well, the big girl bedroom is getting much closer to being done.  I still have to get curtains, a few more pillows and recover the stool for the vanity.  The hardest parts are definitely behind us!  Why is it that projects always seem to take way longer than you think they will when you come up with the idea?!

The original plan was to just leave the bottom part of the wall the original color.  Unfortunately our touch up paint had ruined so I couldn't even have some matched!

The furniture is FINALLY back in place!!!!

I hope she loves her new room!

They Just Grow Up So Fast!

Well, we mention a "big girl room" to Em and she has just decided that she needs to do lots more "big girl" things.  I had to work late last night and when I got home she showed me that she now knows how to blow her nose like a big girl and then dressed up in big girl clothes like Mommy.  This morning she used her big girl potty!  I don't know if I am ready for all of this!

She can walk as well in my heels as she does in her Crocs!

How do I look?

Notice the bracelets on her legs...what do you think?  New fashion statement?

Let me think, what else could this necklace go with?

Making sure to pose for Daddy

Wow, accessorizing is hard work!

This one is a little blurry but the look on her face is priceless!

Her teeth crack me up in this one!

17 Months

Emerson is 17 months today and we are more amazed every day by the things that she is learning.  She has started learning sign language at school and so far knows "please", "more", "thank you", and "eat".  She is also learning more words, not all completely recognizable to others, but new words nontheless!  The ones that top the list are "more", "thank you", "shoes", "bow" and let's not forget "no"!  She has become a little bit more picky when it comes to eating but still is very good about eating fruits and veggies.  She has turned into quite the little mommy, now grasping the concept of pushing her baby in her stroller and feeding her baby, and any other stuffed animal or toy, from her sippy cup.  They told me that she is the same way at day care and is a mommy to those landing themselves in time-out, taking them their shoes and toys when they are in trouble!  She is getting a mouthful of teeth-11 at last count and I wouldn't be surprised if there more more in the next few days!  We are still in the midst of fixing her "big girl bedroom" so we haven't tried her in her new bed.  The room is turning out great-Shawn got the chair rail up today but it still needs to be caulked and painted.  I think she is going to love her new room!

The work in progress

Daddy did an awesome job on the chair rail.

Hard to believe how long we have been working with the room still looking the way it does!

Sniff, Sniff.

With Shawn off this summer we have finally started tackling some things around the house that we have been wanting to do for awhile.  Earlier this week he worked on rearranging the office so that we could move the treadmill out of our bedroom.  Mission accomplished.  We have been talking about when we were going to try to move Emerson out of the nursery and into her "big girl room", but had never really decided anything.  We had talked about at least moving her toys into the new room to help her get used to going in there and then making the move in phases.  Well, something got into us on Saturday and the phases went out the window and we started making the move.  I didn't think it was going to be an issue for me but as it all started happening very quickly and the nursery began to be dismantled I almost lost it!  Something about not taking her in there for bed at night or putting her up on the changing table anymore really got to me.  Nonetheless, I got the daybed repainted and moved in and I am starting to think about how we are going to decorate her new room.  That part is really exciting since my nursery planning was a little limited with her being a surprise!  As it stands now, all the furniture is moved into the new room but we are going to have her continue to sleep in her crib in the old room until I can find curtains, etc.  Also, I think we are going to start with naps in the new bed to give her some time to adjust, or maybe time for Mommy to adjust!

Trying out her new bed for the first time

Playing in her room

Before you ask, the sunhat has become an essential part of the wardrobe!

Let's see Noah...let's find you a spot in our new room.

Hey guys, check out my new bed!  I can get out of it without any help!

Who's Mommy and Daddy's big girl?

Happy Birthday America!!!

I am way behind in posting this but I am finally getting to our 4th of July pictures!  We headed to Shreveport to celebrate the holiday weekend and had a great time.  We hung out on the farm when we got there on Friday.  On Saturday, Shawn helped my mom buy a laptop and get things set up for her to have wireless internet-it turned out to be an all day afair so GranSan treated him to crawfish that night!  For the 4th we celebrated at Jerry and Janet's lakehouse and had so much fun.  It was the first time that entire side of the family has been together at the same time since Em was born...way too long!

16 months one day, 16 and driving a real car tomorrow!  GranSan couldn't resist the little car anymore!

Faster GranSan...this is GREAT!!!

Peek-a-boo!

Why do we all spend a fortune on toys?!

Aunt Janet put all the perfect touches on Em's first trip to the lakehouse!

I think I am winning GranSan!

Aunt Janet showing Em that Uncle Jerry gives good kisses!

Helping Aunt Janet in the kitchen

This time Em LOVED Missy-she laughed hysterically when she saw her-too funny!

She finally convinced somebody to take her outside!  Thanks Uncle Jerry!

Why can't I jump off the pier?!

Maggie was thrilled the plans included water!

OK, y'all have all been saying we are going to swim.  Is it finally time?!  Jamie and Em  are ready!

She loved the boat.  Even with the water so rough she ended up almost falling asleep!

Jaf, when do I get to drive?!

Blowing bubbles with Nate and Jamie-by the end of the day she was saying "bubbles"!

Somewhere along the way Nate got stuck with babysitting duty-Em was in heaven!

Shelly getting plenty of kisses before we left to hold her over!
