Family Fun

Tonight Chris Tomlin was in concert at the Pavilion so we decided it was the perfect night for a picnic in the park.  The girls know most of the songs and love picnics so it was great.  They were totally exhausted when we got them home after a very full day.

We love Potbelly's sandwiches!

They had so much fun dancing and chasing each other.

They hopped up to pose by this statue that is in the park on the way to the car.

Life With Miss B

Braelyn is at an age now where she is talking all the time and the things that come out of her mouth, not to mention some of the things she does, are all hilarious!  I have to do better about documenting some of it because I NEVER want to forget!  Here are a few of our favorites from the last week...most of them happening on Easter Sunday.

I put on her Easter dress and she starting twirling in her room.
"I a pretty princess!!"
She hopped up on her stool so we could finish getting ready.
"Ooooo, pretty princesses do NOT have crazy hair!"
I told her not to worry, that we could take care of the crazy hair.  I got her bow in and curls under control...
"Now, I a pretty princess!  I go show Daddy. I marry him in this dress!"

When she was opening her eggs after the egg hunt, one of them was empty.  I thought she was going to get upset and then she got the biggest smile on her face, held up the egg, and...
"JESUS IS ALIVE!!!!!"
Shawn and I couldn't believe it but are so thankful that she and Emerson both can tell you what Easter is all about and it is not just about eggs with candy!  Braelyn definitely paid attention with the Resurrection eggs and knew that the empty one represented the empty tomb!

On Sunday afternoon while we were outside playing, all the neighborhood kids were out and the girls started playing with Corbin from across the street who is just 2.  Emerson decided to try to teach him how to ride the tricycle and then decided to take it a step further and asked if she could give the tricycle to Corbin.  Shawn and I said that it was fine as long as Mrs. Lindsey said it was ok.  The only problem with all this was that no one asked Braelyn what she thought!  As Emerson raced across the street to take the tricycle to Mrs. Lindsey, Braelyn was racing behind her yelling "I still little, I still little!  That's mine!"  She came back home crying like crazy.  Shawn and I told her it was OK because Mrs. Lindsey was probably not going to want it so we would get it back.  Several minutes later we look up and see that Braelyn has gone over to their house, grabbed the tricycle while nobody was looking, and was bringing it home as fast as she could, looking over her shoulder to make sure nobody had caught her!  When she got to the garage Shawn asked her what she was doing she said "I got this back!"  He asked if she wanted him to hide it and she said "YES!"  All was right with the world again and she headed back across the street on her bike to play!  If only we had a video of her bringing that tricycle home!

On the way to school...
Braelyn:  "I concentrating."
Mommy:  "What are you concentrating on?"
No answer.  I looked in the back to see her trying to put her shoes on.
Braelyn:  "I having trouble.  My shoes not cooperating.  You have to put them on at school."
Concentrating?!  Cooperating?!  Really?!  Where does she get this stuff?!

Trike-a-Thon 2015

Hard to believe it has been a year since the last St. Jude Trike-a-thon at First Kids and even harder to believe how much Braelyn has grown since then!  She was so excited about taking her pretty pink princess bike to school and she did awesome in the event.  I think she might have been the only one that didn't crash at some point-and that wasn't because she wasn't going fast!  She was flying around the circle!  Way to go B!

I'm ready!  Let's do this!

Does it get any cuter?!

Ms. Sherri and Ms. Betty have their hands full!

I wouldn't miss times like this for anything!!!

Thank You Papa!!

Every Easter Papa sends me and the girls beautiful corsages to wear to church.  This year was no exception!  As usual we were scrambling to get us all out the door so the girls were in the car before I got theirs on...they were SO excited!

Happy Easter!

We had a wonderful Easter of time together.  David came up and spent the night with us last night and went to church and lunch with us today.  On the way home from lunch it started raining and the girls were so worried that they were not going to get to hunt eggs.  Hunting eggs inside is completely unacceptable!  When we got home the girls got in our bed to watch Happy Feet, somewhat pouting that they were not outside on the hunt for eggs.  Shawn went outside and realized it had stopped raining and thought if we hurried we could get at least one good hunt in before the rain came again.  The girls had so much fun and we loved every second of watching them run, laugh, squeal "I found another one", and compare baskets to see who had the most!  After Mom and Daddy finished watching the Rockets game, we all piled on the new couch in the new movie room to watch Disney Fire and Rescue and then headed outside to play after the rain let up.  A perfect day!

I found a gold one!!

Wow, that is a full basket!

Braelyn did much better this year, moving fast enough that Sissy didn't get all the eggs!

Time to see what is in all those colorful eggs!

Shoveling in M&Ms after every egg she opened!  I don't know how she could still close her mouth!

A good time was definitely had by all!

On the Hunt

I was so blessed to get to be at both of the girls egg hunts at their schools today.  I love getting to watch them make these memories!  To see them have so much fun brings more joy than anything else.

Listening very carefully to Ms. Sherri's rules.

And she's off!

So cute and proud of her finds!

She had so much fun playing on the playground with her friends after the hunt.

The kindergarteners all had 3 eggs with their name on it.  They had to find their name to find their 3 eggs.

Yes, those are her new rainboots...you never know when a spring shower might pop up!

I found one!

She found all 3 of hers in no time!
