Dinner and a Show

The girls planned a special surprise family dinner.  They requested that Daddy make hot dogs and then the set the table and had a full itinerary for us  They used hand towels wrapped with hair ties and slap bracelets for our napkins!.  Emerson did a magic show and Braelyn sang for us!  It was so precious!

1st Day at 2 Separate Schools!!

Well, every year on the first day of school I am amazed by how fast it is all going.  This year brings on a whole new twist to that because I now drop the girls off at 2 separate schools!!  Braelyn is still at Snyder in the 3rd grade but Emerson is now in 5th so this is her first year at Clark Intermediate.  She has been so excited waiting for this day so we are so excited for her.  Braelyn is not quite sure how she feels about Sissy being at a different school yet.  I just try to soak up every second of each new phase because each one is so fun in its own way.

Miss B ready to get things started in Miss Arnold's class!

Miss Em didn't even want me to walk her in on the first day!  I told her it was totally up to her and that I was so glad she was so excited and confident enough to go in by herself.  She said "Mom, your feelings matter too, so if you really want to, you can walk me in!"  Sweet girl!  Momma will be just fine...at least until you get inside the building, then I can't be held responsible for what happens in the car!  Of course, I did not say that!

New Do For School!

Last, but not least, to get ready for the new school year, we got in for the girls to get their hair cut.  It was mostly just a trim but B's ended up quite a bit shorter and the stylist dried it straight!  Braelyn loved it being straight and wanted to be sure it would still be like that for the start of school the next day, but I told her I couldn't make any promises given typical August Houston humidity!!  They look so cute and ready for a great start!

Meet the Teacher

This year we made a point to go to Meet the Teacher since we probably have a lot to learn about how things are going to go at Clark.  Plus, Em needed to get a locker, and learn how to open it.  Since we were going to Clark, of course we went to Snyder too, even though we know all the ins and outs there.  Snyder went very quickly.  We found Braelyn's class quickly and were surprised to see that while it is now a different teacher, it is the same classroom Emerson was in for 3rd grade.  Miss Arnold seems to sweet and we are looking forward to another great year at Snyder for Miss B.  After leaving there, we headed to Clark.  Little did we know how long this new adventure would take!  The process of getting a locker, decorating it, and meeting all 3 of Emerson's teachers took quite a while but all in all a huge success!  She originally chose a locker on the top row, only for us to discover that it was a little too high for her to open easily, not to mention she couldn't reach the top to hang her cute little disco ball decoration!  Clearly, a good reason to switch and request a bottom row!  I have a feeling that Emerson is going to love it here this year!

That cute little 3rd grader looks ready to me!

This is Miss Arnold's first year to teach and I think B is going to love her!

Em got to choose which desk she wanted.

Of course we got the one on top fully decorated before we realized it probably wasn't the best choice!  Does she look ready or what?!

Now, the disco ball can be turned on!

End of Summer Fun

The girls and I usually try to do something fun the last day of summer to soak up every last second of time together.  This year we had a blast!!!  The day started with doughnuts at Southern Maid and then we had a bit of a road trip.  We headed into Houston to a place called Candytopia.  It is hard to explain but it is only in Houston for a short time before moving on to another city.  All of the art inside is made out of candy.  There are fun photo ops using their app and the special cameras they have set up.  There is a huge ball pit of what looks like marshmallows to play in.  We all laughed so hard and made memories that I will treasure forever!

Let's get this party started!

We anxiously waited in this room before our scheduled time not really knowing what to expect!

This was one of the pics with the app.  That rainbow only appeared in the picture if you used the app.

When you stepped on the base of these flowers, they blew out different scents.

Is this really all candy?!?!

There was so much to take in, it was hard to see everything.

On to the next room!

There were lots of pieces of art made out of candy.  They had signs that told how many pieces of candy and how many hours each took to make.

This room was so much fun.  We got blasted with confetti!

This one didn't turn out as good as I hoped but that platform was spinning as they blasted us with confetti!  We were laughing so much, we all ate confetti!

Of course, we had to have a picture with the Astros hat for Daddy!

What would a day like this be without souvenirs???
