Out of the Mouths of Babes

I realized the other day as Shawn and I were laughing hysterically over something that Emerson had said, that I have to start writing some of them down because I feel like I have already forgotten so many of them.  Here are just a few from the past couple of weeks...

When I gave her a banana:  "Eeeeew...my nana's all muddy!" (the peel had quite a few brown spots!)

When Braelyn was crying, I told B that she had to wait while I fixed Sister's lunch:  "Mama, I not Sister, I Emerson!"

The other day she kept asking me where her #1 was.  I couldn't figure out what she was talking about.  She finally brought me her princess wand.  I realized that all the times I had been saying "wand" she thought I was saying "one"!

"Mama, I need a bam dade."  Band-Aid.  Aside from how cute the way she says it is, it is even more hilarious because if you were to actually try to put one on her you would witness a complete meltdown.  Most kids would give anything to have a Band-Aid...not this one!  She would rather have the shot at the doctor than the Band-Aid they put on it!

"I have an idea!" What's your idea? "Presents for Emerson!"

Beautiful Weather

The weather has been great the last couple of weeks.  One day Emerson, Braelyn, and I got out in the driveway with some sidewalk chalk and took in the beautiful day.

It's the Great Pumpkin

On Tuesday night we had so much fun and started our first Halloween family tradition.  While I was cooking dinner Emerson and Shawn headed to HEB to find the perfect pumpkin to carve.  After dinner we got to work on making the perfect Jack-o-Lantern.  Emerson "drew" the face and scooped out the middle and then Daddy carved it for us.  Braelyn watched from her ExerSaucer for awhile but decided a nap sounded a little bit better to her...maybe next year!  After we got everything cleaned up we watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

Daddy and Emerson did some good shopping!  That looks like the perfect pumpkin to me!

After Em drew the face and the circle around the top...Daddy cut the top out for us.

Em did so well scooping but said "it's all gross" when it came to getting some out with her hands!

While Daddy carved, Em and I picked out pumpkin seeds to roast(oops...we never quite got around to roasting them!).

Shawn bought this great little pumpkin carver that made the job a lot easier.

Emerson was determined to find every last seed!

Looks great for our very first family pumpkin!

Braelyn Faith turned 4 months old on October 21!  She gets to be more fun every day.  She is big enough now to play in the ExerSaucer and loves it.  I love it because it is finally something that she and Em can play together.  It is so cute. Em sits on the outside and shows her how all the toys work.  It is absolutely precious to listen and watch!  Braelyn always wants to be either sitting up straight or standing so the ExerSaucer is perfect.  When she is in her car seat, in her swing, or laying in your lap she is contstantly trying to do sit-ups to get upright!  She is smiling much of the time but when she wants something, you better get in a hurry because she wants it five minutes ago!  I love the way she always has her hands folded.  The funny part is they are not just folded but she is squeezing so tight...her knuckles and fingertips are white!  She sleeps from about 8:30 til 5:30 or 6.  She loves her bath, many times sleeping through most of it.  She will turn from her stomach to her back if she gets good and tired of tummy time!  The older she gets, the more people tell us that she looks like her big sister, the biggest difference being those big brown eyes!  She went in for her well baby visit on Monday the 24 and he said that she was doing great.  She has definitely hit a growth spurt.  She was 14 pounds 7 ounces(70%), and 24 3/4 inches(70%) and her head was 40 1/2 centimeters(35%).  He gave us the go ahead to start on cereal and after a month of cereal she can try some veggies.  He gave us a medicated oil to help with a patch of cradle cap on the back of her head.  If that doesn't work then we are going to have to try soy formula because he said that cradle cap can sometimes be a reaction to the formula.  She had to get to shots and one oral vaccine...poor baby!

She looks too big in this picture!  I love her little lips!

The piece of paper on her head is her hat according to her big sister!

If I could just get it in my mouth!

This thing is great!  I can finally stand up!

I do not have time for pictures...there are SO many toys on this thing!

Totally Spoiled: Phase 2

Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Sissy left on Sunday...GranSan and Aunt Janet rolled in on Monday!  I had to fly out on Tuesday morning VERY early for a meeting in Dallas so we called in reinforcements to watch the girls for a couple of days since Shawn's schedule is insane this time of year.  They got to town and picked up the girls from school around noon and played nonstop until they left early Thursday morning.  Em got to do sidewalk chalk, go on a scavenger hunt and go to the park and Braelyn got lots of hugs and kisses!

Getting pictures like this one sent to my phone helped to get me through my meeting!

GranSan getting some Braelyn sugar!

How did Janet know that Emerson LOVES baking cookies?!

Boy am I tired...but I can't wait to have everybody here again!

Totally Spoiled: Phase 1

The week of October 10 Grandma, Papa, and Aunt Sissy got to come down for a visit.  The girls (& I am pretty sure Grandma, Papa, and Sissy) had an awesome time!  The girls had their undivided attention while Shawn and I were at work and soaked up every second!  Larry, Mikala, and I took Emerson with us to the game on Friday night to try to cheer the Bears to a victory over Brenham but we came up a little short.  While we were at the game, Grandma stayed home for a little one on one time with Miss Braelyn.  On Saturday, all the girls set out for a little shopping and then met the guys at Buffalo Wild Wings to get a bite to eat.  Grandma and Papa left around noon on Sunday.  Aunt Sissy spent the whole day with us and Russ came that night to pick her up for her to spend the week with him in Dallas.  It was so good to see everybody!

Waiting patiently for Grandma, Papa, and Sissy

They came in the door bearing gifts...Em had to try on her Fancy Nancy nightgown and slippers immediately!

Time to make some Halloween cookies!

Happy Birthday McKenzie!

Last Saturday Emerson went to a birthday party at Chick-fil-a for one of her classmates, McKenzie.  She had so much fun playing in the play area and then of course cupcakes and ice cream are always the best part!

Em's Baby Dolls

I had Braelyn laying in the floor on a blanket the other night and before I knew it she had become one of Emerson's baby dolls...so cute!
All of the dolls had to be covered up

They each had to have a toy

When she covers them up, she covers them up completely...face and all!

 Mom...a little help please!

Taking care of babies is hard work!  She laid down and covered herself up for a little rest!

After a little rest she was able to get back up and rock her babies!

Ready for Halloween

We decided to get as much wear out of our pumpkins as possible so we started the first week of October!

I don't know which one of them looks more ready for Mom to finish taking pictures!

Mini Me

The other night I was giving Braelyn a bath and all of a sudden I realized Em wasn't sitting watching TV any more.  I looked over in the dining room and she was giving her baby a bath in the sink just like I was bathing Braelyn.  She then went to her room to get her rocker to rock and feed her baby just like I do with Braelyn after her bath.  Then she used Braelyn's little playmat and took it into her room to put her baby to sleep on it!

The blanket is serving as her hooded towel...Mommy always has Braelyn's towel laying on the counter for when her bath is over!

 Time to go night-night baby!

Sweet dreams!
