The Big Event

Every year Snyder picks an organization to help out in order to teach the kids about giving back.  This year it was the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.  The kids brought in donations of food, pet toys, towels, etc. to help stock up the shelter.  During the week they focus on the event, they have theme days.  There was crazy sock day, crazy hair, hat day, Snyder shirt day, and dress like your BFF day.

Is she cute or what?!

She came up with her own style that she wanted me to do for Crazy Hair Day!
Em and Sofia were so excited that they were pretty much the only ones dressed alike on Dress Like Your BFF Day!

Field Day 2016

Thankfully Field Day ran a little differently this year.  The kids stayed with their class and their teacher pretty much ran anything...no need for parents to have a group!!!  I was able to just go and watch.  Still not my idea of Field Day-no real races or ribbons, just a day of games and fun.

The kids loved Mrs. Coogler's misting bottle!

I love it that Mrs. Coogler did everything with the kids!

Madison and Em all ready to start the 3 legged race.

Oh the things we do for our kids!
It was making her crazy that I was winning!
Louis and Em are both so competitive that they made a great pair for this race!

Trike-a-Thon 2016

Trike-a-thon is one of my favorite First Kids' events.  It is a fundraiser benefiting St. Jude's which is the main charity that we contribute to as we can't imagine what it must feel like as a parent to ever need St. Jude.  This year Mrs. Kathy really pulled out all the stops to prevent crashes telling the kids beforehand that if they didn't get a ticket for speeding or reckless driving, they would get their driver's license.  Braelyn obviously wanted her license because I have never seen her ride her bike so slow!!

Now there is trouble...B and Tripp

Hi Mom!

Mrs. Kathy and Mrs. Loretta have their hands full!  I don't know how they do it!

What Was I Thinking?!

One evening in March, we were driving home from dinner when I got a text from Robin with a link to a website on it.  Under the link, she put "Right down the road from you, what do you think?".  I opened the link and it was for the Diva Half Marathon in Galveston.  She has been trying to talk me into doing a half with her for months and she must have caught me on the right night because I agreed!  I might should have thought out the details a little more...it was only 6 weeks til race day and I hadn't run 3 miles without stopping since December!  Not to mention 3 miles is the most I have run...EVER!!!  Well, I survived and we had a blast!  She came down and spent the night with us on Friday night, we cheered Emerson on at soccer the next morning and then it was on to Galveston.  The race was bright and early Sunday morning.  Luckily it was early enough that it wasn't too miserably hot and it was pretty amazing getting to run along the seawall.  I am still a little shocked that I did it and was very happy with my time of 2:17:50!  So proud of Robin for hitting her best time too(this was her 4th half)!

Thank you Robin for enduring the Houston heat at a soccer field so that I didn't miss this!

Mrs. Robin has a new friend for life!  She helped B make flower necklaces, bracelets, and headbands!

Pretty hard to believe that we have been friends for over 20 years!!!

All ready to go at the starting line!

We did it!!!!
Who'd have thunk it?!

Fun With My Sister

The girls are always wanting to build tents so when I found this one on Zulily I had to get it!  It makes it so easy for them to build their own tents-either using the included straps or just hooking the edges on the back of chairs.  One day they spent most of the afternoon building the perfect tent in the backyard then proceeded to fill it with pillows, stuffed animals, and books and just hung out under there until the rain moved in.  So cute!
