Date Night

Very unexpectedly Shawn was offered tickets to the Astros game at work.  From the time he called me, I had about thirty minutes to find a babysitter and have them at the house so that he could pick me up and we could get going.  I shockingly pulled it off and Darby was able to bail us out!  We had amazing seats and even got to have some fun with Orbit!

The girls are going to be SO mad at us!!!!

Miss Creative

Emerson always amazes us with some of the things she creates.  She is always wanting to borrow boxes, ribbon, tape, markers, scissors, toilet paper rolls, etc. to make her "inventions".  Here is one of her latests...she made a bird costume!

Fun Weekend

We had a great weekend.  We got to spend quite a bit of time Saturday just enjoying the pretty weather out running errands and then got to go to the Astros game with Robin, Ryan, John Ryan and Nora.  Ryan's company was getting a suite for all the employees for Sunday's game so they decided to take advantage of it and catch an extra game with us the night before.

Having some fun at Market Street after lunch at Potbellys.

It looks like we were the only ones at the game but we just got there super early!

We Survived!

Week one of school is down and it went great!  Braelyn absolutely loves kindergarten and hung in there all week.  Friday hit and she went down for the count for 2 and a half hours after school!  This big kid school thing is no joke!  What happened to naptime???

Big First Day

The girls were so excited this morning!  We still had a few jitters despite Jitter Glitter...Em informed me her glitter didn't work which was very obvious by the look of her bed!  Braelyn on the other hand seemed to get a great night's sleep and was ready to start her big day!  I can hardly believe that we have 2 in "big kid school" now!!  I am so anxious to see what B thinks about it all this week!  She looks so tiny walking the halls but I know she is ready and that she is going to do great!  Em is definitely quite the big girl now, wanting to walk to class by herself on day 1.  I convinced her to let me walk her at least on the first day so I could get the usual picture!  Both girls got in the car after their big days talking non-stop about what an awesome first day it was!  I know there are going to be lots of great memories made this year!

Homework Already???

On Meet the Teacher night, Emerson actually got her first assignment to be turned in the first week of school.  She was supposed to decorate a paper bag and fill it with items that tell a little about who she is and they presented to the class.  She did the project herself and the sweetest thing she wanted to include was one of Daddy's hats because of how much she loves her Daddy and all the things they do together.

Twas the Night Before School

The day we have been waiting for for quite some time has arrived!  Braelyn starts kindergarten in the morning and Emerson starts 2nd grade.  We have enjoyed our last weekend before the craziness starts together as a family.  On Sunday, we went to Wal-Mart to grab a few last minute items, Shawn and I got some things done around the house so that everything was super organized, and the girls had fun washing my car.  They have been asking for weeks when their backpacks and lunchboxes would arrive and I have been playing it off like they weren't here.  When they came back in from washing my car, they had surprises on their beds from me and Shawn to celebrate their big first days.  You could probably hear the squeals of excitement from miles away!

They got to pick their own backpacks and lunchboxes and even that shows their big differences.  Em wanted her's as plain as possible...
B's are covered in butterflies and the backpack as an embroidered unicorn too!

I love that she is SO excited to be starting kindergarten!
We read "The Night Before Kindergarten" before bed.

The perfect 1st Day outfit.  She was so excited that it had a strawberry on it-the kid LOVES strawberries!
Needless to say Em was beyond excited to find her surprise!

Em got "Pinkalicious and the New Teacher" for us to read before bed.
1st Day Shirt
They both thanked me and Daddy over and over for their surprises.

Braelyn's teacher sent her home with "Jitter Glitter" and this letter for us to read before bed so that it would be easier to get to sleep.
We all piled in B's bed to read about Jitter Glitter.

She carefully sprinkled her glitter under her pillow and then gave some to Em to help her get to sleep too!
All ready to get some good sleep!
