Sign of Growing Up

Emerson has always loved to color and "draw".  She has told me many a time that she was going to draw a picture of me, of Daddy, of a princess, etc. and she would work and work and work and, while very pretty in my eyes, the pictures never have taken the shape of anything recognizable.  While we were at the hotel in Dallas she found a notepad and pen and started to draw and as she typically would, told me that she was going to draw me.  I was so surprised when she showed me her drawing...

It was very clear that she had drawn a person!

Happy Birthday Aunt Sissy

We took a little road trip up to Dallas to wish Aunt Sissy a happy birthday.  It is so awesome that we can take a short 3 1/2 hour drive and celebrate with her now!  We drove up late on Friday and checked into the hotel.  On Saturday, Shawn, Uncle Jeremy, Uncle Tony, and Uncle Russ all went out for a round of golf.  Me, Emerson, and Braelyn did a little shopping at the Galleria and then headed back to the hotel to get a good nap in before Sissy's birthday dinner at Abuelo's.  After dinner we went to Dave and Buster's to play some games-one of Emerson's favorite things to do!  Sunday we met up with Grandma, Sissy, Uncle Jeremy and Gae for breakfast before we started the drive home.  Grandma and I switched places for taking pictures...I hardly took any and she took a bunch!  I haven't had a chance to get any of her's yet!

The sisters acting silly when we got to the hotel.

Staying up late and staying in a hotel is GREAT!

Braelyn did a lot of exploring during her first hotel stay!

Leaving breakfast with Grandma and Aunt Sissy...Braelyn likes to use her new skill of walking ALL the time now!

Word Mix-up

The other night Emerson was taking a shower and all of a sudden kept saying "Mommy, my eyes are hot, my eyes are hot!"  It took me a minute to figure out what in the world she meant.  She had gotten soap in her eyes and they were burning!  Pretty cute!

Quick Visit

Our good friends Ryan and Robin from Shreveport stopped by with their 2 kids on their way to spend the week at South Padre with her side of the family.  It was great to get to catch up with them and the kids had a blast together!

Emerson, Nora, and John Ryan showing us one of their "commercials" they had come up with.

Wrestling match

Who knew that sidewalk chalk basically turns into paint when wet?!

John Ryan was a trooper being way outnumbered by the girls!

Braelyn was so happy to get to be a part of the action!

Emerson and Nora were perfect playmates...Nora is just 6 months older than Emerson.

Shawn, Ryan, and Robin watching the colossal mess the kids were creating.

A hose was needed BEFORE we could even think about baths!

Braelyn kept getting distracted from her art project because the sidewalk chalk looked like it might make a great snack!

Aunt Sissy's Married!!!

Last weekend we headed to Aztec for Aunt Sissy's wedding.  We are so happy for her and Russ.  Our flight left Houston at 6 in the morning on Friday...wow 3:30 came awfully early!  We got to Aztec and rested for a little while before it was time for rehearsal.  The rehearsal went great and the dinner at Olive Garden was a lot of fun.  We were wondering how Braelyn was going to do immediately being thrown into a new place with a lot of new people...she did GREAT!!  Saturday was pretty hectic as everybody got ready for the big event.  I got to go with Aunt Sissy and Emerson to get their hair done and then it was a race back to the house to get dressed, take pictures and head to the church.  The wedding was beautiful, hardly a dry eye in the place especially when Larry sang!  The reception at Three Rivers was a blast.  I think Emerson had more fun than anybody dancing!  Things somewhat went downhill after that...no fewer than 20 people, including Mikala, came down with a stomach virus!  Emerson got to have a fun day on Monday.  She went with Aunt Kristi, Uncle Jeremy, Tanner, and Keaton to a pool party. Our plan had been to leave for a couple of days and head to Durango leaving the girls with Grandma and Papa.  Unfortunately Braelyn was one of the ones that came down with the bug and was sick the rest of our trip.  We did get to get away for the day on the 4th and spend some time just the 2 of us.  That night we had a cookout and had sparklers to celebrate.  We also got to celebrate Braelyn's birthday again...what a lucky girl!  Thursday morning everybody helped pack up Russ and Aunt Sissy for their move to Texas...needless to say we are the only ones very happy about their move!  Shortly after they pulled away it was our turn to head for the airport.

Wouldn't it go much faster if we just dumped our baskets rather than dropping one petal at a time?!

The oldest flower girl and the beautiful bride!

It was pretty special getting to watch Mikala and Emerson while they got matching hairdos!

Needless to say Emerson loves her Aunt Sissy!

Her hair looked precious!

Time to go get our pretty dresses on!

The littles flower girl...it was a lost cause keeping her headband on!

She is growing up soooo fast!

Aunt Kristi and Braelyn helped Emerson get the flowers into her basket(Braelyn had a basket but was definitely NOT going down the aisle!)

Emerson and Daddy durng the father/daughter dance.  Braelyn was busy getting her jammies on...it was a little late for dancing!

She still got some good Daddy time even if she missed the dance!
