Silly Socks and Hat Day

Emerson's first fundraiser at big kid school was the Boosterthon Fun Run to raise money for a new playground.  I had no idea what a production this was going to be!  It kicked off a week before the actual run and Boosterthon leaders were on campus every day teaching about fitness, character development, and encouraging the kids to get as many pledges as possible.  The first few days Emerson came home with a ton of prizes for the pledges she got and was steady telling me about who she needed to call for pledges so that she could get the other prizes she wanted!  As a reward for their fundraising, one day Ms. Krakow's class got to wear silly socks and bring a stuffed animal and another day they got to wear a hat.

Braelyn was surprisingly not upset that she did not have silly socks but she was definitely taking a stuffed animal!

Are these the cutest socks ever?!

Prettiest smile that melts my heart!

Happy Birthday Mom!!

I love it that my girls love birthdays as much as I do and they are about as bad about keeping surprises a secret just like me!  Since my birthday fell on Monday this year, Daddy thought it would be much better to celebrate the weekend before.  Em rode with him to run some errands on Saturday while B got a little nap in.  When she came through the door she started talking about my birthday.  That was my first clue.  Second clue:  "Mom, do you want sparkly pink nail polish for your birthday?".  Third clue:  "Where is a good hiding place?  My closet?".  She absolutely cracks me up!  After we ate dinner and I had popped the popcorn that I had promised B, I was getting Tangled turned on and Shawn and the girls called me into the kitchen.  They had gotten me a cake, cards, and sparkly pink nail polish!  Yesterday, the celebrating continued with a trip to Incredible Pizza-where else would you go to celebrate a birthday?!  Tonight, I got to pick for dinner so we went to Chuy's.  It was an absolutely perfect 3 day celebration and I am still trying to wrap my head around the fact it was to celebrate turning 35!!!!!  Happy Birthday to Gransan too...the big 60!  You would never know by looking at you!!

Daddy put my face in the cake!

Yummy!!!

Storybook Parade

Snyder Elementary does a Storybook Parade every year where the kids pick a favorite book and dress like one of the characters.  The kindergarten classes pick a class book and make their costumes in class.  Emerson's class did "Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?" and dressed as goldfish.  The costumes could not have been easier-all I had to find was an orange t-shirt and they made goldfish headbands in class!  She was a little unhappy with me because there were an awful lot of Disney Princesses on parade!  I tried to explain that when she gets older we could definitely do that!

The administrators kicked off the parade-I am not sure what their books were but they were all dressed in medical gear!

Here comes Ms. Krakow's goldfish!

Cutest goldfish I have ever seen!  She struggled with her headband-it was a little too big!

Happy Grandparents Day!

Our girls are so blessed to have amazing grandparents that love them so much and are such a big part of their lives.  We wish we could be with them all more but cherish all the time together and all the memories made each and every visit.  We love you Grandma, Papa, and Gransan!!!!  Thank you for all you do for us!  It worked out great that Gransan was still here from helping out because she was able to go to Em's school for Grandparents Day!

Cute selfie when Gransan woke her up!

One happy girl-her Gransan and Taco Bell at school!  Awesome!!!

A very happy Grandparents Day!

Recovery Time

While Braelyn had a smile on her face most of the time at the surgery center, it got a little harder after we got home.  It was great to get home instead of sharing a room with a screaming kid, but the following days you could tell she was hurting so much.  The mornings were definitely the worst.  During the day though she still had lots of fun playing with Gransan!  It helped so much having Gransan here to get Em to and from school so that Braelyn could rest and Braelyn loved all the spoiling during the day!  THANK YOU GRANSAN!!!

We're HOME!!!  Gransan had surprises waiting from her and Janet.

I love that smile!

I don't even know how many times she worked this puzzle-OVER AND OVER AND OVER!

Gransan was very ready to have her other sweet girl at home to play with!

When she woke up from a nap after we got home, she was beyond excited to see the balloons that Uncle Jeremy, Aunt Kristi, Tanner, and Keaton sent her!

I found her reading the new book that Gransan brought her to Minnie!

Gransan was a pro at getting Em ready and out the door to school!

Tough morning!  It was a horrible thing as a parent to see her hurting so much when there was nothing I could do to fix it!

The puzzle...AGAIN!

Gransan suggested putting an ice pack on her throat and it did wonders!  The first time we tried it, it was like a drug-we put it on her neck and she instantly fell asleep!!

Thankfully cupcakes are soft so they made a perfect treat at the end of a tough week!

Braelyn's Not So Fun Day

Well, today was the day B got her tonsils out.  We really didn't want her to have to do this so young but we are praying that it will help her in a lot of ways.  I hope that she will finally get good sleep because she will be able to breath and I hope she will finally eat decently because there will be room for her to swallow!  It was kind of sad that she was so happy on the way to the surgery center thinking that she was just getting a day to herself with Mommy, Daddy, and Gransan and then wasn't quite so sure as they wheeled her back to surgery by herself.  Aside from right after she woke up, she handled everything great!  We had to spend the night because she was so young and had to share a room with another 3 year old who had his tonsils out.  He screamed and cried most of the day and night and Braelyn sat there happy as could be eating popsicles and mac & cheese!  She went through about 5 popsicles and 2 bowls of mac & cheese before crashing for a little shut eye.  One of the times the little boy was carrying on so much she looked up at me and said "I not crying Mommy!" and reached up to give me a high 5!  So cute!  Her favorite part of the day was when Em came to visit after school-I love how much they love each other!

Grandma and Papa made sure that Braelyn knew they were thinking about her today-she had a present to open on the way!

She loved her bear-thank you Grandma and Papa!  This will help me not be so scared!

Playing with Gransan's phone while we waited

It is over!  Such a relief having her snuggled up beside me!

Popsicles in bed?!  This might not be so bad after all!

Cartoons with Sissy

So sweet!

She asked the nurses if Sissy could have a popsicle with her!

Braelyn's Fun Day

Another change brought on by Emerson being in kindergarten now-she doesn't get to stay home when company is in town!  Braelyn is not too upset by this change because she finally has her chance to get one on one time with everybody.  Emerson got that before Braelyn was born but B has always had to share.  Today, Gransan rode with me to see how it all works dropping Em off at school since she will be doing it the next few days and then the day was Braelyn's.  We played and went to the mall for a little shopping and a haircut.

My little helper and I made some cinnamon rolls.

Braelyn loved it that Gransan stayed upstairs with her playing Barbies.

As much as I want Braelyn's hair to get a little longer, she was in desperate need of a shape up!

No trip to the mall is complete without a trip to the carousel!

The haircut helped so much and made her curls even curlier!

Showing off her new shoes that Gransan got her!
