Terrible? I Don't Think So!

Everybody always talks about the "terrible twos"...maybe we're very lucky but we don't think there is anything terrible about Miss Emerson!  It is still a little hard to believe that she is 2 years old but she brings more joy to our lives each and every day.  It is so fun listening to her little vocabulary develop.  She is now starting to put some sentences together and it is hilarious to hear some of the things that she picks up on.  She amazes us by the things she can do physically.  Santa brought the play structure at Christmas and we thought the rock wall was definitely something she was going to have to grow into-she is already climbing it by herself!  She weighs 31 pounds (90%) and she is 34 1/4 inches (70%) and the doctor said that she is doing awesome!  We celebrated her big day over a few days.  The Wednesday before her birthday we took cupcakes to school so that she could celebrate with her friends.  On the Saturday after, GranSan, Uncle Jerry, and Aunt Janet drove down to join Grandma and Papa to help us celebrate.  We had a princess theme and we all had a great time just being together.

Tulips for the 2 year old!(I wish I could say I thought of that when I bought them-it didn't even enter my mind until GranSan and Aunt Janet said it!)

She had so much fun with the balloons, I don't know why we bothered with presents!

Our birthday princess with her princess cup

She definitely needed no help when it came to opening presents.  We said the word and she was tearing in before anybody could even grab a camera!

Oh yea!  My very own tea set!

 The sisters' first matching outfit!

Grandma, Aunt Janet, and Em trying out the Elefun game

The whole crew(including Uncle Jerry, Daddy, and Papa) doing the "Party Train"!

Let's see...what else can I convince them to do on my birthday?!

Almost as fun as the balloons...the party blowouts!

Daddy was definitely in the partying mood!

 Make a wish and blow!

GranSan, Uncle Jerry, and Aunt Janet enjoying some cake

Having a blowing contest with Papa

With a couple of her friends at her school party-she looks like such a big girl!

Stuffing her cupcake in her mouth with her teacher Miss Melody

By the time I got to her she was wearing a good bit of that frosting!

 A very happy birthday girl!

We love you so much Princess Emerson!

Special Visitors

Grandma and Papa flew into town on Wednesday to help Emerson celebrate her birthday.  We picked them up at the airport and then headed home to play.  Em couldn't wait to show off her new swing set.  While they were here we did lots of shopping to buy new clothes for both girls and then on Friday went over to College Station to watch Daddy's Bears play some baseball.  The weekend kicked off our birthday celebrations!

Em took them straight to her room to show off her toys

 Fun outside

Just chillin' in her fort with Papa!

Daddy, you're supposed to go down the slide not up!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had a great Valentine's Day at our house.  My day started with a note on the ottoman when I woke up telling me to click on the "Happy Valentine's Day" icon on the computer.  Shawn had made me a slide show of pictures of our life together to the sweetest song.  Emerson had a Valentine party at school and seemed to have a great time.  I drove to College Station to pick up our favorite meal for dinner and when we all met back up at the house Emerson got her Valentine from us.  All in all a perfect day!

Looking very festive for her party-yes, those are Elmo stickers on her dress!  They are from Grandma and Papa's Valentine that she opened yesterday!

After school showing off her bag of Valentine goodies!

Very happy that her #1 Valentine was home from work!

Checking out her goodies from Mommy and Daddy

Sesame Street stamps, Abby Cadabby notebook and more Elmo stickers...yea!!!

She couldn't wait to try out her stamps-we almost couldn't even get her to eat dinner!

A Big First

Today we went for Emerson's first haircut!!  I had no idea what to expect with her reaction but she did so good!  She was really shy at first and did not want to sit in the chair by herself but Caitlin was so sweet and talked to her about her necklace and her shoes and one of the other girls brought her a sucker and that did the trick!  She was still a little unsure when I put her in the chair but she loved the cape with the fish on it so things started getting better.  They had a cute "My First Haircut" packet where they wrote down who cut her hair, who was there, and her reaction and then had an envelope for some of her hair.  I wish I had taken a picture of the finished look before we left because it was flipped out so cute.  After a ride in the car seat it turned to more of a curled under look but still cute!

Super Bowl=Cupcakes

This year we didn't really care about who was playing in the Super Bowl but Emerson definitely cared about the food being served!  Shawn's cousin David came up to watch the game so we had lots of snacks-Em's favorite was definitely the cupcakes.  I think I should have opted for Packers cupcakes instead of Steelers because the black icing is impossible to get off!

Think PINK!!!!

Today was our ultrasound visit with Dr. G and as we found out that Emerson is going to have a little sister!!!!  Everything looked perfect.  She is 12 ounces which puts her right on track with her June 19 due date.  It still seems so weird being able to say "she" given that Em had to be "it" until the day she was born.  When we saw this one's profile we both noticed immediately that she looks different than Emerson-they definitely have different noses!  We can't wait to see all the other things that make her uniquely her!  Emerson predicted it all along...any time we talk about the baby she says "baby sister"!  I am so excited for her and for us as we get to watch 2 beautiful girls grow up together.  We are truly blessed!

 Meet our 2nd little princess!

She kept her arms in front of her face the whole time-I think she was playing peekaboo with her big sister!

Look at her little legs all stretched out!

It might not be best for our finances that we found out-I was already buying clothes today!

Hey everybody-I get to have a little sister!  YEA!!!!
