1 Week

Braelyn is a week old today!  We had an appointment this morning for her newborn screen and the doctor said she looked perfect-was an appointment really necessary to figure that out?!  She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces(50%) and was 20 inches(75%).  She has been such a good baby so far.  The only time you really see her temper is if she is ready to eat or if you are changing her-she HATES to be uncovered!  Otherwise she is very laid back.

 Total relaxation!

 So precious!

She's so tiny it is hard to find headbands small enough for her head!

First Outing

Braelyn had her first big outing on Sunday before Grandma, Papa, Sissy, and Russ were leaving on Monday.  We all loaded up and went to Incredible Pizza to eat and play some games.  It is Emerson's new favorite place to go.  We pigged out at the buffet and then headed into the game room.  I don't think Emerson stopped running the entire time we were in there from game to game.  I think Russ and Mikala might have had just as much fun as she did.  Braelyn seemed to love all the lights and noise-either that or she was in a bit of shock from it.  She was perfectly still, all bright eyed in her carrier just looking around and even slept for some of it!  Me, Shawn, Papa, and Braelyn came home a little early and Emerson stayed with Grandma, Sissy and Russ to win even more tickets.  She managed to have enough to buy a princess golf club set and princess dry erase board!

 Cheese!

Is it time to go for pizza yet?!

 Shoot for 2!

How in the world could she sleep with so much noise?!

Ahhh...the peace and quiet of home!

Ups and Downs

We had the full range of emotions at our house last week.  We experienced the greatest joy when Braelyn entered our life on Tuesday.  On Thursday, the day after we got home from the hospital, Larry was putting together our new stroller in the living room and next thing we knew he was having a heart attack.  It is all still so hard to believe but thank you to all who lifted up prayers for us because Papa is doing great.  We were so thankful when he got to come home on Saturday afternoon to spend time with his grandbabies.

Love Overflowing

We have always wondered how we would have enough love to possibly love another the way we love Emerson-well somehow it is possible!  Not only did we fall head over heels for Braelyn, our love for Emerson even grows as we watch her with her new baby sister.  Not only did we find this added love but so has the rest of the family that has been here to love on both of our bundles of joy.

Yea!  Baby Sister is FINALLY here!

 Daddy's littlest princess

Aunt Janet and GranSan think she is definitely a keeper

Erin and Laney came to welcome sweet Braelyn to the world

 Time to go home!

I missed my sweet Em so much while we were at the hospital so the morning after we got home she and I got to have some Mommy and Em fun in the backyard.

 I'm gonna get you Mommy!

Braelyn Faith Brooks

Braelyn Faith Brooks is here!  She was born Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 5:36 p.m., weighed 7 pounds 9 ounces and was 20 inches long.  She is beautiful, even if we are a little biased!  She was due on Sunday, June 19 but just wasn't quite ready yet.  My doctor was leaving for a trip to Italy on Wednesday so he put us on the schedule for an induction on Tuesday but we were the third stand by.  I called at 5 a.m. Tuesday morning and they said that they were still making the schedule and would call me back.  They called at 5:30 and told me that I would be able to come in at 7 but to call before we left the house to make sure nothing had changed.  At 5:37 they called back and said that something had changed and that I was back on hold.  Very disappointed I just went back to bed and assumed that we would not be having a baby that day.  At 9:30 a.m. they called again and said that my doctor had told them to have me go ahead and come in.  We were in a room by 10:30 and all was underway by 11.  The delivery was very easy-the doctor was there for 10 minutes tops before I was actually holding her!  Emerson is soooo happy that baby sister is finally here and has been so good with her so far.  I have lots more pics to post but here are a few!

 Hello world!

Can we go back to the heated bed PLEASE?!

 We are so blessed

Happy Father's Day!

We are having a nice relaxing Father's Day around the Brooks' house.  We thought Shawn might be getting an additional card by Father's Day this year but still no Braelyn!  Larry flew in last night so it was great actually getting to celebrate with him in person this year.

 Helping Daddy open his present

He got a Dremel that he has had his eye on at Home Depot

Now it's time to help Papa open his present

She worked so hard on cards for Daddy and Papa-"Emerson colored!"

Papa got the new Max Lucado book

A day in the life of a Dad with a daughter-getting covered with princess stickers!

She decided that the perfect place for a princess sticker was right on his eye!  When he went to take it off she said: "Don't touch Daddy!"

After lunch she told Sissy that she wanted to watch Monsters...again!

We never thought we would see the day that this child would sit and watch a movie.  She goes into a complete trance when it comes on !
