Book Bites

Second grade does a big project tied to their Thanksgiving feast called book bites.  The kids choose a book that has some sort of food in it.  They do a book report on the book and then choose a recipe to coordinate with the book.  The report and the recipe are included on a placemat that they make and then present to the class.  They also make their recipe for the feast.  It was a pretty intense project for a 7 year old but Em did amazing!  She chose If You Give a Mouse a Cookie and wanted to make what she calls Chocolate Num Nums.  She was one of only a couple students in her class to get 100% on the project!

Making Chocolate Num Nums which are mini Nilla wafer sandwiches with marshmallow crème in the middle and covered in chocolate-YUM!

I was so thankful I was able to be there the morning she presented her placemat.  Despite the fact that she hates being in front of people, she did amazing!

Alexa, Em, and Sofia on the day of the feast

Everything worked out perfectly the day of the feast...I was able to take Shawn for Lasik and get him home in bed just in time to get to the feast!

I love these precious BFFs!
