Poor Emerson!

Well, we have known this day was coming for awhile.  Emerson unfortunately had to follow in her sister's footsteps and have her tonsils and adenoids out.  While I know she is going to feel so much better when it is all behind us, it is never easy to see your baby wheeled off to the operating room or to see them hurt when it is over.  True to form though, she has taken it all so well.  I wish I was half as tough as she is.  There have been very few episodes of any tears and very little complaining.  The biggest shock was her reaction waking up from the anesthesia.  None of us knew that Em had an ounce of a temper in that little body of hers but surprise, surprise it exists!  When we got to the recovery room the nurse told us how strong Em is...we then saw what she meant!  Emerson went to kicking her legs and flailing her arms and screaming at us.  I couldn't even hold her arms down-Shawn had to help me!  This went on for a few minutes and then she crashed out asleep.  The next time she opened her pretty blue eyes, she was just as calm as could be and back to the sweet Em we know.  We decided we better reintroduce the nurse to her at that point so she could meet the REAL Emerson!  She has definitely taken full advantage of unlimited ice cream.  She was over the popsicles after the first day!  It seems to be taking her a little longer to feel better than Braelyn took but that is to be expected with her being older.  We are going to attempt going back to school tomorrow so we'll see how that goes!

Her new puppy from Grandma and Papa is definitely going with her into surgery!

It was hilarious...they gave her medicine to relax her and within minutes she was snuggled up asleep!  The nurse said that really doesn't ever happen, it usually just makes them loopy!

The nurses were so much fun.  They convinced her to put on this hat for a picture.  As soon as I snapped the pic, she was done with the hat!

Surgery over, time for popsicles!

Braelyn wouldn't even consider going to school...she wanted to be right there making sure Sissy was ok.
