Trustworthy

Our sweet Emerson was awarded Superstar Stallion yet again for the trait of trustworthiness.  We are so very proud of her and the amazing person she is.  She is trustworthy, caring, and so much fun.  This is the third year she has won superstar and every time it has been for trustworthiness.

Happy Birthday to Mom!

I managed to actually get sick on my birthday this year so we pushed the celebrating back a couple of days.  It was of course celebrated with our favorite Mi Rancho but thankfully we held off on the singing til we got home!  Em and Daddy had picked out a super cute cake so we had cake and ice cream to top off the celebration.

Nothing else I could possibly need for a perfect birthday!

Tooth Fairy Time!

Braelyn has had a tooth that has been loose for what seems like forever but refused to let us try to pull it.  It was basically hanging by a thread.  She was upstairs watching movies with Emerson and thanks to her sister's coaching, she finally pulled it out all on her own!  She was over the moon to finally have lost a tooth and couldn't wait to have a visit from the tooth fairy.  She wanted me to send pictures to everybody!

Check out that pose!!

Braelyn's "Me Bag"

In an effort to get to know each other better, Mrs. Tworek has a "Me Bag" that a student takes home each day.  The student is supposed to fill the bag with things that tell about who they are and then the next day when they bring it back to school, they get up and tell the class about themselves using the items in the bag.  I did not help Braelyn at all and she knew exactly what she was putting in her bag.  Of course, her favorite blankie that she has had since she was a baby was a must.  She had a picture of her and Emerson from the summer and a picture of all 4 of us from Nate and Taylor's wedding.  She also had a picture of herself from her ballet recital to show that she likes ballet and a picture of the mounted patrol from the mall because of her love of animals.  The best thing that she put in the bag was a book about the Easter story.   I was so thankful Mrs. Tworek emailed me about what she said.  She said:  "I know a lot about Jesus and if you don't know about him, I can tell you about him."  At 6, she is better than I am!!  We were so very proud of her.

Cute Little Bakers

The girls and I love making sweet treats so they were super excited to see that I had bought some brownie mix.  Out came the chef hat and apron and it was time to get to work!  They have definitely gotten my sweet tooth so it is a wonder that any batter actually makes it into the dish to bake!

Harvey

Talk about an event that will not soon be forgotten.  Hurricane Harvey will forever be etched in the minds of every Houstonian.  When we first heard of the storm heading our way, nobody was really all that concerned.  We were pretty pumped to already have a day off school and a day off work.  Boy, did things change very quickly.  We had a week without TV and internet, which if you ask the girls, it was completely traumatic.  Thankfully we only had about a day and a half without power and only several hours without water.  It was unbelievable how much rain we got but we feel so blessed that we had no water in the house other than a small roof leak over our bathroom.  It was pretty unnerving when we discovered that we were completely trapped in the neighborhood because Siandra Creek and Blue Cedar were completely flooded up to the top of the mailboxes.  We had a brief window to decide if we were staying or going.  Ultimately, we decided to stay as we knew we were not in any danger as far as the amount of water that could end up in the house and we had plenty of food and water.  As the water started getting much closer over night on Sunday and there was no sign of the rain stopping, we started getting a little nervous.  We feel so blessed to have come through safe and sound and will never forget the what the week was like.

I love the fact that at their age, having to hide in the closet under the stairs during a tornado warning is an adventure rather than being scary!

Prior to the TV and internet loss, they enjoyed snuggling up together watching lots of movies!

As long as we knew it was just rain and no serious danger, we had to let them outside to keep them from going completely stir crazy.

Hilarious!

I decided to take the girls on a couple of walks and it was almost like Mary Poppins...the wind was a little much!

SO sweet!

It was pretty awesome how well they got along all week being trapped inside together.

We had to get pretty creative with no TV...they made photo booth props for them and their AG dolls!

Fun with Pie Face!

Woohoo!  The storm is over!

On Friday, we got out to do something good for those that weren't as fortunate as us during the storm.  We wanted the girls to understand that no TV and internet was definitely NOT a big deal.

The girls were so happy to shop for others-they bought school supplies for schools that flooded and food for those who lost everything.  The day made me even more overwhelmed and thankful that our sweet girls were safe.
