1st Grade Field Trip

Today was Emerson's field trip to the Arboretum.  I really wasn't sure what to expect but we went all the way to the Arboretum down by the Galleria in Houston.  The kids went on a nature hike and saw everything from turtles, to snakes, to poison ivy, and lily pads.  The kids absolutely loved it!

Before the nature walk, one of the guides taught a lesson on ecosystems and different types of organisms.

Time to get the walk started!
The kids had to wait until the guide gave them permission to touch anything on the walk.
Not so sure this guide had too much experience with this age group!  It might have been a little overwhelming for her!

Shawn, Penelope, Diana, and Em after the walk.
They had a worksheet to complete about the things they saw on their walk.

Coogler's Cool Kids
After lunch there were more exhibits inside.  So proud of our sweet girl for listening so well!

Looking at slides under the microscope.
I was a little surprised she had no problem picking up the different animal skins!

When they finished going through all the exhibits they could write their name on the board.
