Big Girl

We have known this day was coming for awhile, but Mom still was NOT ready!!  Emerson had to get an expander and braces today!  I was not ready for how much older she was going to look once they put them on!  This is just our first round of braces.  They will do the expander and just a few braces on top to get everything on the right track and then she will have round 2 of braces probably in middle school.  I had to get some pictures of her before we went to her appointment...little did I know she already looked so grown up even in the before pictures!!!!

So silly!

She wanted me to take a picture so she could see what the expander looks like.

Just 2 braces today, and then they will add 2 more at her next visit after the expander has had time to work.

She definitely deserved a treat of ice cream to help with the soreness!  She had a hard time figuring out how to swallow thanks to the expander though!

3rd Grade Recorder Concert

This year Emerson has been learning to play the recorder.  When we learned that there would be a recorder performance with ALL of the 3rd graders, we were a little worried about what that might be like!  Boy, were we surprised...pleasantly!!  They all did so good!  The music teacher did an amazing job preparing them.  It included not just the recorders, but singing, and other percussion instruments as well.  We were very impressed!

Silly girl!

Each class had a chance to be highlighted up on the stage.

Easter Do Over

Well, after all our hard shopping the day before Easter to find dresses and shoes and then for them to get sick, we had to have a do over!  They both wore their Easter dresses today and looked so cute!

Snyder Derby

Snyder hosts a big fundraiser every year called the Derby.  The girls are always so excited to go and we missed it last year so I agreed to take them for a little while this year.  It is always so crowded but they have tons for the kids to do.  A big favorite though is the auction where they can bid on things like "principal for a day", "lunch with a teacher", etc.  Emerson was dead set on winning a slumber party with Mrs. Maxwell and Braelyn wanted to have a special lunch with Mrs. Tworek.  We bid on both but apparently got beat in the end!

First order of business-tattoos!

Go Em, Go!

Good job Miss B!

The petting zoo was a big hit!

SO cute!

This was hilarious!  They were giggling like crazy the whole time!

They both wanted to win something at the cake walk so bad-no luck!

Giddy Up Cowgirl!

Emerson got an invitation to Finley's birthday and it was so much fun!  Finley is obsessed with horses so it totally fit for her.  They went on a trail ride!  Who knew that this little ranch was right down the road here in Spring??  I was so surprised at how brave Em was!  I didn't go on the ride with her and nobody led the horses-they actually rode them all by themselves!  She LOVED it!  They all would have loved it even more if it had not been SO cold!  There little hands were numb by the time they got back!  She immediately asked if we could have her next birthday there!

She looked so cute in her boots!

They got to go around and feed all the horses some treats after their ride.

1st Grade Field Trip

Braelyn's field trip this year was to the arboretum in Houston down by the Galleria.  The kids had a great time exploring...for a little while!  As soon as we went on the guided part of the nature walk, things took a turn!  B and a couple other kids stood in ants right off the bat which B never really recovered from.  Then, there was a copperhead sighting that sent a couple others over the edge!  All in all we had a great day!  I always love being there with the girls to see them with their friends and making lots of memories with them!

Passing the time we were waiting on the buses with Rachel.

Of course, she and Sophia stuck together looking at the indoor exhibits.

What do you hear?

She cracked me up holding the snails!  She didn't want to give them back!

Callie and B

She was so proud when she found an example of a "decomposer"-a dead tree.

I love that she and her sister want me at all their events!  It would kill me to miss this!!!
