Almost Famous

Shawn had a great time at the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk competition on Saturday night.  His seats were awesome so he got some pretty great pictures.  It wasn't til after that we realized he was on TV!  The guy he went with had recorded it and when he got home sent Shawn a picture that he took of his TV...Shawn was on TNT!!!

Girls' Night Out

Shawn took clients to the NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest tonight so we had Girls' Night Out.  I needed to run to Dillard's to pick up some make-up so we just made the mall a one-stop-shop.  I picked up my make-up, then we headed to the food court for dinner.  The girls had Sonic and I had Great Wraps.  Fron there it was on to the merry-go-round and we finished the night at the Cookie Co.  We had so much fun!  I hope they will always love a Saturday night at the mall with Mom!

It's a blurry picture but I want to remember this time on the merry-go-round with my sweet girls forever!

Daddy's Valentine

I suprised Shawn with new pictures of the girls for Valentine's Day.  We finally have a good picture fo them together!

Braelyn Faith-19 months

Emerson Leigh-a few weeks shy of 4 years

Valentine's Day 2013

The girls got decked out in their cute Valentine's Day outfits for a fun day of parties at school.  I got to meet Shawn for a lunch date at Carino's.  We decided that was our best bet since he is on call this week and plan to have a real date next week.  When I picked the girls up, we went to pick up Chuy's for dinner and went home to wait for our favorite Valentine, Daddy.  After he got home, we gave them their Valentine goodies from us.  Having those two precious girls make every holiday more fun!

She wasn't too sure about the tutu at first but I think she likes it!

I thought Emerson was going to be upset that her new outfit didn't have a tutu like her sister's but she told Braelyn how pretty she looked and then raced to put on her new "dress".

Woohoo!  Let's go party!

Going through all the loot they got at school when they got home.

Checking out what Grandma and Papa sent.

Is this great or what?!

Em immediately knew what the candy necklace was and went to work eating off all the pink beads.

Those big brown eyes make me melt!

What better way to celebrate Heart Day than with food we love...Mexican food!!!

Excited about her Ariel plate from Daddy and Momma

Daddy helping her punch out the tiara that came on her card from us.

Little bit was disappointed that she didn't have a tiara like her sister so I quickly cut one out of paper...she was SO proud!

God According to Emerson

I was tucking Emerson in bed when the following conversation took place...my guess is that the difficult questions are going to start coming pretty frequently from this point on!

Emerson:  Momma, why is God in the sky.
Me:  Well baby, that way he can see you all the time.
Emerson:  Mom, God can't see me if he is on the clouds!
Me:  Oh sure He can.  God can see you all the time.
(I could see that she really was thinking and then she quickly pointed at the wall)
Emerson:  He's in the monitor?!

Cooper, TX

We have been trying to get to Aunt Sissy and Uncle Russ's house for quite a while now and thanks to illness and crazy schedules have not been able to make it work.  We FINALLY made it though.  We left Houston when Shawn got off on Friday and made it to Mesquite to spend the night.  After a quick dip in the pool for Daddy and Emerson on Saturday morning we headed to Cooper.  When Mikala has told us that it was a small town and that there was nothing there I didn't quite get it until we were there!  Their house is super cute and we loved getting to spend the weekend with them.
It is so awesome that the are close enough now for a weekend road trip!

Emerson loves her Aunt Sissy!

Emerson and Braelyn at up every second with Russ and Mikala but Braelyn was not too sure about the dogs!

We are really back in the car?!  These stickers are not going to keep me occupied for long!

Such a Good Girl

We have always been so blessed that Emerson has been such a well behaved little girl.  We have also learned over time that positive reinforcement does wonders for her so we implemented a new system for her to keep her on track when she is away from us at school.  She gets to pick a weekend reward and if Ms. Hailee gives her a sticker for good behavior every day during the week, she gets her reward.  We are also having Ms. Hailee write down details for any day she might not get a sticker so that we know what to work on with her at home.  The first week we tried it, she chose the prize of riding the "rainbow merry-go-round".  I could only guess that she meant the merry-go-round at the mall.  We had such a good time.  On our way to the mall, she decided she wanted to get her haircut and watch TV(at Snip-its kids get to watch cartoons while getting their haircut) before going to the merry-go-round.  After the haircut and merry-go-round we topped off the reward with some Marble Slab.  Keep up the good work sweet girl!

Even when growing out your hair, a trim is always a good idea!

How did the stylist know that she wants a braid in her hair EVERY DAY?!

All ready for the merry-go-round with her new look!

I LOVE THIS KID!!!!

Ice cream was the perfect end to a perfect outing with my big girl.

Precious Prayer

Dear God,
Thank you for all you need.  You always need to help us.  When the sheep gets lost you need to go and find the shepherd so he can bring back the sheep that is lost.
Amen.

Looks like Emerson was really listening this week in Sunday school!

The Best Help

Grocery shopping is not my favorite thing to do at all!  My trip to the store today was SO much better with my big helper!  Kroger has kid sized shopping carts that I have never let Emerson use and definitely will not again if her sister is with us but it was so much fun with just the two of us!  She did very well listening and staying right beside me.  We didn't run over anyone!

Come on Mom!

Is there anything else on the list?

Looks like we got everything.

She even put everything up on the counter.  Too bad she couldn't pull out her wallet and pay too!

Come One, Come All!

Saturday we got to help Cooper celebrate his fifth birthday "under the big top".  Cooper did a dual party with Beth's best friend's little girl and it was a carnival theme.  There was face painting, popcorn and cotton candy, a bounce house, and a couple of other carnival games.  The kids had so much fun.

She didn't waste any time when we got there getting to the bounce house and right down the slide!

Not many better things in the world than seeing this sweet little girl smile!

Kennedy is such a sweetheart to both of the girls!  She couldn't wait to love on Braelyn right when we got there.

Braelyn got a pink necklace at one of the booths and was so proud of it!

She was on such a sugar high by the time we left!  I caught her at the cotton candy stand twice before we ever made it to cake!

Woohoo!  What next Braelyn?!

After Emerson saw Kennedy leaving the face painting stand with a rainbow, she had to have the same thing!

Time for popcorn!

Oh alright, I can wait til after we sing to get a cupcake!

How cute are they?!  Power Ranger Jaxon and Emerson!  They are exactly one month apart in age.

It was so cute listening to their conversation.  Jaxon told Emerson all about the goldfish he just won and Emerson told him all about her fish "Dorfy" (aka Dororthy), just like Elmo's, that she already has at home.

Happy Birthday Cooper!!!

Kennedy, Emerson, and Braelyn

I wonder what I was thinking when I got her the red frosting instead of the yellow!

Definitely my girl...she licked off all the frosting, took one bite of the cake and said "done!".  The frosting is by far the best part!

Braelyn decided the face painter need supervision!

Hey!  I'm not too little!  Let me in!!!

Unfortunately the mark on her cheek is not lipstick.  A kid at school bit her on Friday when they were fighting over a shoe!

Jaxon and Emerson trying to climb up to slide.  The little ones had trouble getting up there.  It was hysterical watching these 2 try to help each other.  At one point Emerson grabbed Jaxon around the waist and tried to lift him up there!
